Invisible Me

I grew up a complicated kid.

Old fashioned, the English way.

By the ‘children should be seen and not heard’ school of thought. I felt like I was suffocating over there, in all that stuffiness and pretending. Always thinking I had landed in the wrong place and that no one else got it. Often, I’d wish the ground would swallow me up. Go unnoticed. Cool my heels. Sit tight. It’s been on my mind a lot lately and I’m finally okay with being both.
